Meet Alyssa

LCD is a family photography business run by myself, Alyssa and my fiance,  Luis. Luis is the head photographer and I manage all the business needs while dabbling as a new Photographer. We provide photo sessions in our home studio, on location at any milestone event, outdoor family sessions, engagement sessions, and our newly popular; lifestyle newborn sessions.

How has COVD 19 affected your business?

Covid-19 put a full blown halt in our business.  As it is obviously a non-essential service, we were unable to continue with our in-home sessions.  When Covid-19 closures happened we had Easter Sessions scheduled and First Communion Sessions booked for our in-home studio.  We also had events booked but were cancelled, granted.  With restrictions being lifted we are very slowly getting back into scheduling more sessions, all while being safe and practicing social distancing rules.

How have you adapted or pivoted your business?

With the government restrictions and being a service provider, we had a difficult time finding a way to pivot our business. We decided it was best to trust the cards that we (and everyone else) were dealt and just accept that we might be without photography work for a couple months.

How do you continue to service your clients?

At the beginning of the covid-19 lockdown we were unfortunately not able to service our clients how we usually would.  We did however, put effort into our community. We knew how hard this adjustment was for everyone and we wanted to help brighten moods in the community we live in.  Our community is a huge reason why our business is what it is, so we are always happy to give back.  There was a small community scavenger hunt and a local mom who was organizing was looking for prizes for the winners. We were happy to give away a free family session to be used at a later, safe date. Another service we provided was set up our Easter backdrop on our driveway and invited the community to come for a walk and take their own picture with their own device.  Our hope was that clients didn’t miss out on their Easter sessions because events and gatherings might have been cancelled but special occasions and milestones were not.  We love being able to contribute to our community moral and hope it makes a positive difference in everything we do.

What are you doing to prepare yourself for when you can re open your business?

We are slowly getting comfortable with getting back out there to take pictures.  We have only now just started to book photo sessions for the upcoming months. Last week we did our first session since the closure, it was a newborn lifestyle session in the clients home.  Luis and I both attended. We both washed our hands as we entered their home and wore a mask. The nice thing about lifestyle photography is we are able to keep a safe distance. In the coming weeks we plan on contacting our cancelled appointments to rebook. We are also brainstorming some post covid-19 promotions so we can hit the ground running when we start again.

How are you managing personally?

Honestly, I feel I am managing pretty well. We miss our friends and families as does everyone  but we are also enjoying the quality family time we are sharing with our 2 year old daughter.  We have really tried to see the silver lining in this situation and are just feeling very thankful that we have been able to be home, be safe, and be all together.  This too shall pass.
