How has COVD 19 affected your business?

Fortunately, I have always been set up to work virtually. In that aspect I am extremely grateful.

The mortgage industry was quick to implement assistance when the government announced the financial aid that would be provided. Many services linked to a mortgage, which seemed impossible to go virtual, did just that. Realtors are doing virtual showings, appraisals are being done virtually and lawyers are signing with clients virtually as well. The industry has completely shifted in how business is being done across the board. With that comes learning and implementing new processes for my business as well as for my team. The pandemic has made me realize the importance of reaching out and connecting with my client base more. Most often they just wanted someone to talk to and in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, that human connection can get lost. My mindset has changed in that I need to do more going forward.

How have you adapted or pivoted your business?

The landscape for how companies run their businesses going forward is likely going to change for many industries. As a result, I’ve set up Zoom for video meetings with my clients and my team. I think it’s important to provide this option for those who feel more comfortable “seeing” you. I’m currently setting up Microsoft Teams which is a great platform if you have a team where they can access resources, webinars, chat and video chat as well. I am more proactive instead of reactive when it comes to adapting and finding solutions for my clients. As part of adapting to the current climate I’ve attended countless webinars in an effort to stay up to date with market trends and webinars to assist with professional growth.

How are you managing personally?

Overall, I am doing well. Having a clinical anxiety disorder brings many challenges with it and some days it’s a struggle getting into a routine. I make sure I have some time for me and do things that I enjoy like meditating in the morning, reading and cooking – I can’t tell you how many new recipes I’ve made over the last few months! And now that it’s warmer outside, I’m enjoying going for walks and just being outdoors – fresh air does wonders. I have to say this pandemic has made me re-evaluate what is important in life. I’m grateful for good health, family and friends.
