Meet Andrea

Andrea Dukowski-Ross is a hairstylist, spray tanning technician and educator in both fields. She opened her home based salon two and a half years ago and feels it has been the best professional decision she has have ever made. 

How has COVID 19 affected your business?

Covid-19 has affected me quite a bit. I made the decision to close the salon a week before we were mandated too and that was a very difficult thing to do. I had to cancel a fully booked March break and all appointments into May. It has financially been very difficult but I am choosing to focus on being home and safe with my family, rather than the things that I cannot change.

How have you adapted or pivoted your business?

I have been mixing root touch up kits for my clients to pick up on my porch, as well as making sure clients have access to the products they need to maintain the health of their hair. 

What are you doing to prepare yourself for when you can re open your business?

I have stocked the salon with color and products in preparation for when I am allowed to open again. I have also extended my hours and given my husband a heads up that he may not see me for a while

How are you managing personally?

Personally I am managing pretty well. My professional life has almost completely been put on hold, but as long as we are healthy we will be fine! I miss my old routine but again, as long as I focus on what I do have - my boys, my husband, our health, our home, food and love I know we will be ok! In saying all of that, I very much miss my clients and the time we spend together. I miss our talks and laughs and I genuinely miss doing their hair and tans! The relationships I have with my clients are so important to me and I value them very much and cannot wait to be able to see everyone again!!
